These hill resorts are tucked in the lush green Sahydri mountain ranges. Most of these hilly towns are the discovery of British rulers. They had used them as summer resort and loves to spend most of the time here, during the scorching summer season.

Unlike the hill resorts of North India, hill resorts of Maharashtra are still virgin and less explored by the holidaymakers. Some of the hill stations of Maharashtra are

Amboli:Positioned on the southern ranges of Sahyadri hills, Amboli is a scenic hill station of the state. It provides some excellent views of the coastal plains which are located towards the southern direction. Amboli has plenty of sightseeing spots such as Sea view Point where one can view Konkan coast merging with Arabian sea. While exploring the beauty of the place, tourists can also engage themselves in angling at Hiranya Keshi, picnics at Nagatta Falls etc.

Chikhaldara:Located in the Amravati district of Vidarbha region, Chikaldhara is one of the important hill station of Maharashtra. It claims its fame due to its mythological connection and vast coffee plantations. According to a legend, Bhima, one of the Pandav has killed villainous Keechaka and threw him into the valley of this hill station. Chikhaldara also has some beautiful tourist spots such as Gaavilgad fort, Narnala Fort, Pandit Nehru Botanical Gardens, the Semadoh Lake and the Tribal Museum. Nearby to this hill station, there is Melghat Tiger Project where one can witness Tigers along with other animals like Panthers, Sloth Bears etc.

Bhandardhara:Bhandardhara is another alluring hill resort of Maharashtra. It is located on the banks of Arthur Lake and is an ideal place for adventure vacation. Apart from the regular recreational facilities like sightseeing, picnics and boating at Arthur Lake, Bhandardhara also provides good option for adventure sports such trekking and rafting. Ratangad Fort of Maratha king Shivaji is famous for trekking whereas cascading Radha fall is famed for rafting expedition.

Apart from these hill station of Maharashtra, the state also has other unspoilt hill resorts are Jawhar, Panhala, Malshejghat, Sawantwadi and Toranmanl.
